Marie Stopes International Organization of Nigeria (MSION), says plans are ongoing for the commencement of the 2022 work plan where those in the hinterland in Bauchi will have unrestricted access to Family Planning (FP) services.
This was made known during a two-day sensitization workshop organised by MSION for Local Government Maternal and Child Health (MCH) coordinators in the state.

The workshop according to Hussaina Maji, North East Coordinator, MSION is to engage relevant stakeholders and participants, mapping out of sites and outreach scheduling of FP services for 2022.
Also, the workshop will afford the organisers and the participants to reappraise the outreach activities in the passing year.
She said, “The workshop will assist in proffering solutions to identified challenges in providing FP services through agreed channels.”
While commending health workers for their effort in ramping up FP services in their respective LGAs, Maji emphasised on the need for proper documentation that serves as an evidence that can used in planning and implementation of activities in FP services.
Also speaking, Hajara Yahaya, FP coordinator at the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA), it is expedient for participants to seek updated data regarding FP services.
“When you are adequately informed on emerging issues regarding FP, you will be in a better position to cascade such knowledge to your service providers, which will in educate clients during outreach engagements or at the facility”, said Yahaya.
She reiterated that, “creating friendly environment in your facilities through one-on-one engagement does only encourage uptake of services, but also ensures sustainability.”
Yahaya urged the coordinators to always work as a team with hosts communities to achieve optimum result.
“A satisfied FP client is your number one community advocate,” she noted.
Speaking with journalists, Ibrahim Yusuf, Northern Marketing and Communication Advisor for MSION, made an appeal to the state government to explore avenues on how to ensure sustainability of FP outreach services to make the services accessible to the underserved.
“We build a sustainable mobilization mechanism for outreach services that is being championed by LG MCH coordinators.
“We mobilize communities to demand for FP services hand in hand with facilitating supply of FP commodities to cater for the demand,” said Yusuf.
The meeting is expected to come up with an action point that will pave the way for the successful implementation of the outreach work plan.
