Yobe High Court sentence man to life imprisonment for raping minor
A High Court in Potiskum, Yobe State, has sentenced a man identified as Sale Nuhu to life imprisonment for defiling a young girl.
Sale Nuhu was said to have forcefully had sex with the girl named Salma on a farm on Tuesday, July 9, 2020, in Yobe State.
The case was presided over by Honourable Justice Usman Zanna who found him guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment under the amended section 283 of Penal Code Cap 102 Laws of Yobe State.

The convict who testified in his defence was diligently cross-examined.
Passers-by who caught him in the act testified against him in court saying: “While working on a farm, he sighted the victim, Salma and her two siblings and decided to call them and send the younger brother and the sister to fetch water for him in a nearby borehole and that was when he raped her”.
The convict was accosted by passers-by who invited officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who arrested and investigated the case diligently. The IPO from the NSCDC also testified in court and the confessional statement of the convict was tendered through him.
