Story from Shafa’atu DAUDA, Kano

Kano State Acting Governor, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has accepted the voluntary resignation of the state commissioner of water resources, Sadiq Aminu Wali.

The Commissioner, who communicated the resignation letter through the office of the acting governor on behalf of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, served for two years as member of the state Executive Council.

In a statement issued by the commissioner for information, Muhammad Garba, the acting governor commended the outgoing commissioner for his service to the government and people of Kano state.

He noted with satisfaction the achievements recorded in the ministry, despite the challenges, in the area of water supply to the ever increasing population, particularly in the state capital.

The acting governor expressed profound appreciation to the outgoing commissioner and wished him the best of luck in his future endeavour.

Recall that Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state on Wednesday handed over power to his deputy, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who will now govern the state in an acting capacity.

The state commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, who made the disclosure in a press statement on Wednesday, said Governor Ganduje has flown to the United Arab Emirate to attend an Investment Summit being facilitated by the Nigeria Governor’s Forum (NGF).

He said the deputy governor has been empowered to act in a full acting capacity, pending his return to Kano.
