Neptune Prime seeks more awareness campaigns on cervical cancer

Neptune Network Limited publishers of Neptune Prime Online Newspaper, Magazine and TV held its maiden awards event as part of its effort to create more awareness about cervical cancer.
The event which took place in Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Abuja was attended by a host of dignitaries.
In an interview with Neptune Prime, Dr Amina Zakari, the Director-General of Lami Fatima Babare Cervical Cancer Awareness Foundation (LFBCCF) said the CEO/Publisher of Neptune Prime, Dr Hassan Gimba Ahmad, who is also her husband, came up with this noble idea to honour his late wife, Lami Fatima Babare, who died of cervical cancer.
“Lami Fatima Babare was my co-wife and was diagnosed with cervical cancer but because of the lack of awareness, it wasn’t detected on time until at a very late stage. She was diagnosed in 2017 and died in 2018, she went through pain that a cervical cancer patient would go through before she finally died” Zakari said.
According to her, the death of Lami Fatima Babare was the reason Dr Gimba found it expedient to honour her by setting up a foundation to create more awareness about the ailment.
Also, in an interview with Habiba Adamu Waziri, the daughter of Adamu Maina Waziri, who represented her father at the occasion to receive the award of excellence as Beacon of Democracy said that there is a need for the media to join the campaign of cervical cancer awareness in order to enhance the purpose of creating the Lami Fatima Babare Cervical Cancer Awareness Foundation.
