Gombe emerges one of 7 states to benefit from RSSH health scheme

The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) through the Federal Ministry of Health has selected Gombe state as one of the seven beneficiaries of the health scheme tagged ‘Resilient and Sustainable System for Health (RSSH).

The RSSH is a health scheme designed to support the Nigerian government to strengthen its health system, and policy standards and curtailing the deadly diseases of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

The team leader of RSSH, Dr John Adedoyin, from the Federal Ministry of Health accompanied by the officials of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) during a visit to the Gombe State Ministry of Health headquarters, said the state was selected for being proactive in healthcare delivery.

He expressed optimism that the RSSH program would spur the state government to do more in healthcare service delivery.

According to him, the state would be charged to lead and provide an enabling environment for the delivery of high services, especially for the aforementioned diseases.

Responding, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Habu Dahiru, expressed appreciation to the federal ministry of health for selecting Gombe to be among the seven benefiting states in RSSH.

He said the state was eager to start the RSSH program to leverage the scheme and boost its health care services.
