Health Ministry confirms cholera outbreak in Kano

The Kano State Ministry of Health has confirmed an outbreak of cholera in the state, the chief epidemiologist of the ministry, Sulaiman Iliyasu, confirmed.
Iliyasu said an outbreak had been reported in Danbatta local government area, which resulted in the loss of two lives.
“In April, we received reports of an outbreak of vomiting and diarrhoea in Danbatta, which later spread to the Gwarzo local government area,” he said.
He further added that so far, more than 30 people have been infected in the Kano suburbs.
The affected areas are Dala, Ungoggo local government area and Tarauni local government area.
Dr Sulaiman Isyaku called on the public to take extra care to keep their environment clean and to report any outbreak to the health authorities for immediate action.
