Gov. Buni assures of peace in Yobe, hands over 33 recovered rustled cows to owners

Governor Mai Mala Buni said effective measures have been put in place to ensure peace, law and order is maintained in Yobe State as security agents recovered and returned 33 rustled cows to owners.

In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Digital & Strategic Communications to Yobe Governor, Yusuf Ali, the state government through its Standing Security Stakeholders’ Committee recovered 33 cows that were stolen from Borno State and handed them over to their rightful owners.

Presenting the cattle at a brief ceremony, the Director of Cabinet and Security of Governor’s Office in Damaturu, Alhaji Yakubu Musa Damagum, said the cows were recovered on the 3rd of August 2022 by the team of vigilantes being assisted by the security agencies in the state.

Damagum revealed that the owner of the cows, Francis Kwahur is based in Mubi, Adamawa State and the cattle were rustled from his herder in Borno State.

He said the cattles were handed over to the rightful owners, after the standing security committee, appointed by the Yobe Government deliberated and followed all due process.

Damagum said the recovery and the handing over of the cattle demonstrates the commitments of the Yobe State Government under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni for the continued sustainance of peace and public order in the state.

One of the cattle owners, Francis Kwahu, expressed appreciation to the security agents and the Yobe State Government for recovering his stolen cows and returning them back to him.

The handing over of the rustled cattle was done by administering oath by a senior magistrate in the presence of the standing security stakeholders’ Committee, the two Chairmen of Miyetti Allah from Yobe and Adamawa states.
