PSN destroys expired drugs worth N110 million in Adamawa

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Adamawa State Chapter, has destroyed expired drugs worth N110 million as part of activities to mark its society’s week.
Mr Ibrahim Talba, state Chairman of the PSN said the destroyed drugs are mopped up from various pharmaceutical and patent medicine stores across the state.
“The drugs were seized from stands across the state as part of our efforts to get rid of expired and fake drugs from our community in commemoration of the week”, he said.
He advised members of the public to always check the expiration date on any medication they are buying.
He also urged owners of pharmaceutical and patent medicine stores to stop displaying expired drugs on their stands.
Similarly, the speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Honourable Iya Abbas, commended the society for mopping expired drugs from the state.
Abbas who was represented by the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Pwamakino Mankendo, noted that if these drugs get to the end users it will not only affect the health of people but also increase the insecurity in the state.
In his remarks, Mr Femi Agbolu, Adamawa state NDLEA commander, said the drugs if allowed in circulation would be abused stressing that most negative actions in the society are influenced by harmful drugs.
