Yobe Govt approves contract for construction of Geidam Ultra Modern Market at N3.8 billion

The Governor Mai Mala Buni-led government of Yobe State has approved the award of a N3.8 billion contract for the construction of Geidam Ultra Modern Market.
According to a statement made available to Neptune Prime, the facility covers 500 shops, stalls and stores of different sizes, a public toilet, administrative block, perimeter wall fencing, gatehouse, Mosque, internal roads and drainages.
The contract was awarded to Green and Blue Communication & Electronics Ltd at a sum of N3,894,764,031.56 (Three Billion Eight Hundred and Ninety-Four Million Seven Hundred and Sixty Four Thousand Thirty Naira Fifty Six Kobo). The Contractor undertakes to complete the works within 12 calendar months.
The construction of markets is among the initiatives of Governor Buni’s Administration to improve the Internal Growth Rate (IGR), enhance commercial activities and provide employment opportunities.

This is the fifth in the series of Modern Market Construction projects by Governor Buni’s Administration in addition to those In Nguru, Potiskum, and Damaturu at a different level of completion while the one in Gashua has been completed and is ready to be Commissioned on 3rd September 2022.
The Commissioner of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Honourable Barma Shettima signed on behalf of the Yobe State Government while Malam Kura Goni Mama signed for Green And Blue Communications & Electronics Ltd.
In his remarks, the Commissioner outlined the importance of the state-of-art Market and urged the contractor to work in line with specifications contained in the contract agreement.
While witnessing the signing ceremony, the Honorable Member representing Geidam central, Honourable Bukar Mustapha and the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Bukar Dauda on behalf of the Geidam community expressed their gratitude to the State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni.
The contractor after signing the contract thanked Yobe State Government for the trust and confidence that was reposed in them and assured good quality work to be done within the agreed timeframe.
