Gov. El-Rufai to crown new chief of Gwantu

All is now set for Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai, to crown His Royal Highness, Malam Balarabe Abdullahi Karma as the Chief of Gwantu.

The governor, alongside his deputy, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, is expected in Gwantu, the headquarters of Gwantu Chiefdom and Sanga Local Government Area in the southern part of Kaduna State in North Central Nigeria for the coronation and presentation of staff of office to the new chief on Thursday.

The Chairman Local Organising Committee of the Coronation Ceremony, Waziri Isa Adam, who is also Wazirin Gwantu III, disclosed this in a chat with newsmen on the state of preparations for the ceremony.

He said while the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi Alhaji Sule, has agreed to be the Special Guest of Honour at the ceremony, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli who is also the Chairman of Kaduna State Council of Emirs and Chiefs and his Jama’a Emirate counterpart, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Isa Muhammadu II will be Royal Fathers of the Day.

The Wazirin Gwantu III said all prominent sons and daughters of the Chiefdom at home and in the diaspora have started returning home to be part of the historic coronation of the Mai Gwantu and to welcome the state governor who, they love and admire for responding to their age-long agitation for the creation of the Chiefdom for the purpose of self-determination, progress and all forms of development.

The Chairman of the local organising committee of the ceremony assured that all hands are on deck to ensure a highly successful and unprecedented coronation ceremony in the history of the Chiefdom.

He said the event will attract different cultural troupes from the local government and from other neighbouring states such as Bauchi and Nasarawa, who will come and showcase their cultural talents, in solidarity with the Chiefdom.

The Wazirin Gwantu III also called on all and sundry in the Chiefdom to cooperate with his committee and abide by all security arrangements by security for the purpose of ensuring security for all, before, during, and after the ceremony.

Commenting on the prominent sons and daughters of the Chiefdom who played commendable roles in the creation and development of the Chiefdom, Wazirin Gwantu III commended the Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, Alhaji Abdullahi Maikano, who the Gwantu People simply address as ‘Leader’ because of his historical and leading roles in the history and evolution of the Gwantu race.

He also commended the pioneering role played by the Chairman of Gwantu People Progressive Union, Prince Bala Audu, in the actualisation of the Gwantu Chiefdom.
