Gov. Buni, top govt officials mark Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Yobe

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has performed the wreath laying ceremony during the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in honour of military fallen heroes, veterans and legions who paid the supreme price and made sacrifices to ensure the peace and unity of the country.
The occasion took place at the event centre of the Government House Damaturu.
Top government officials in attendance include the state deputy governor, Alhaji Idi Barde Guyana, Speaker state House of Assembly, Ahmed Lawan Mirwa, the state Chief Judge, Gumna Kashim Kaigama, Emir of Fika Muhammad Abali Muhammad Ibn Idrissa, representative of the widows of the fallen heroes and top military officials.
Prayers were offered by Muslims and Christians for the fallen heroes, their families and the country as a whole.
Governor Buni later proceeded to release white pigeons from the cage to signify peace.
Yobe is one of the North-East states that suffered setbacks as a result of insurgency, where many Nigerian soldiers paid the supreme price with their lives while defending the region and the country at large.
