According to the UK Guardian, it is the first verdict of its kind under the Modern Slavery Act.

Recall that the Specialist Crime Team of the Metropolitan Police in London detained Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice over alleged conspiracy to harvest the organs of a child.

The investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022.
