IGP orders assessment, promotion of traffic wardens for career progression

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Baba, continues his efforts to ensure the promotion of deserving officers within the Force, based on their years of service, experience, and qualifications.

As part of this endeavour, the IGP has ordered the assessment and promotion of Traffic Wardens.

CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force PRO, stated that this decision reflects the IGP’s unwavering dedication to promoting robust and fair career progression within the Nigeria Police Force.

He explained that Traffic Wardens hold a distinct rank from regular officers, in accordance with Part XV of the Police Act 2020.

Their responsibilities include the general control and direction of motor traffic on highways, assisting pedestrians in closing roads, managing unauthorized vehicle parking, and enforcing road traffic laws in Nigeria.

The Force PRO further emphasized the inspector-general’s commitment to ensuring proper career advancement in the Nigeria Police Force.

This commitment is demonstrated through the implementation of a transparent promotion system, emphasis on training and capacity building, provision of professional development opportunities, and the promotion of a conducive work environment.

These initiatives collectively empower officers to reach their full potential, enhance their capabilities, and contribute effectively to the safety and security of the nation.
