We expect ministerial nominees list before Thursday – Senate
According to the Senate, President Bola Tinubu will present the long-awaited list of ministerial nominees within the next 48 hours, going into seclusion to avoid undue influence.
In addition, the Senate is urging the Nigerian people to pray for Tinubu as he makes decisions regarding the nominees within the next 24 hours. The focus is on ensuring that Nigerians will be satisfied with the final list of ministers.

During the 60th birthday anniversary lecture and book presentation on Leadership and Communication held at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti Central) shared this information.
Senator Bamidele stated, “Let me tell you, and you must encourage me; I need to make myself unavailable for the next 48 hours because a correspondence must come to the Senate, a very crucial correspondence. So Mr. President prayed for me. We should tell the rest of Nigerians to pray for me to be able to make the right decision within the next 24 hours so that when Nigerians hear the list of his ministers, they will say ‘yes…this is uncommon,’ and join us to pray for Mr. President. He needed to be away from any kind of influence.”
According to the constitution, President Tinubu has until July 28 to submit his ministerial nominees for screening and confirmation by the Senate. The 1999 Constitution as amended allows the President and governors a 60-day window from their inauguration to appoint ministers and commissioners.
The Constitution also mandates that the President appoint at least one minister from each of the 36 states of the Federation, and that not less than ten percent of the appointed ministers be women.
In a related development, Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed concern about the strained relationships between governors and their successors upon assuming office.He praised Senator Bamidele for his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for over 30 years, emphasizing the need for more leaders like him.
Akpabio stated, “The Governor of Ekiti State is a great example of what leadership should be. He has remained steadfast. As a governor, the moment you hand over power to your successor, he will turn on you. Either his taste will change or attitude; there is no governor in Nigeria that has no problem with their successor apart”
