Cabinet Shakeup: Shetty out, Keyamo, Mariya in

President Bola Tinubu has made changes to his ministerial nominee list, replacing Maryam Shetty with two new candidates: Festus Keyamo and Dr. Mariya Mahmoud.

The announcement was made during Friday’s plenary session when Senate President Godswill Akpabio read out a letter from the President.

This has brought the number of nominees to a total of 48.

Earlier, Maryam Shetty was introduced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio as one of the 19 new ministerial nominees put forward by President Bola Tinubu.

Maryam, born on 8th April 1979, is a Political and Social Activist, a qualified physiotherapist, and a passionate social entrepreneur. Her journey towards success has been nothing short of extraordinary.

She began her academic journey in Kano, where she received her early education. Later, she pursued her Masters Degree in sports physiotherapy at the prestigious University of East London, Stratford, in the United Kingdom. Maryam is currently single.

Her expertise was in high demand, leading her to become a valued member of the medical team during the London Olympics. Among the elite athletes she worked with was the world record holder and sprinting legend, Usain Bolt, from Jamaica.

Not limiting her pursuits to healthcare, Maryam embarked on a journey of social change, obtaining a Kingian Non Violence practitioner certificate from Emory University in the United States, inspired by the principles of the renowned Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
