NEMA receives 298 stranded Nigerians from Libyan prisons
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has successfully repatriated 298 Nigerians who had been stranded in Libyan prisons.
This significant operation aimed to bring relief to those who had endured various periods of detention in northern African camps.
The returnees arrived back in Nigeria through two separate chartered flights. The first flight, carrying 161 returnees, touched down on August 21, while the second flight, which carried 137 returnees, arrived on Monday.

The second batch of returnees disembarked from an Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800 with the registration number 5A-DMG. This plane landed at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Cargo Wing, Ikeja, at approximately 5:38 p.m. on Monday.
Among the returnees, there were 119 females, many of whom were pregnant, and 170 males. Additionally, there were 3 female children, 3 male children, and 3 infants in the group.
NEMA coordinated this operation in collaboration with the International Organization of Migration (IOM), Port Health Service, and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRM).
