Adeniyi highlighted recent developments at Lilypond and stressed the importance of collaboration between the two organisations to streamline operations at the nation’s seaports.

“We should establish a joint team that will engage other government agencies to optimise the export process by implementing trackers, thereby preventing delays in diverting goods.

“I assure you that the Nigeria Customs Service’s management team will work hand in hand with you,” stated Adeniyi.

In his remarks, Koko congratulated Adeniyi on his appointment and sought his support in upgrading facilities at the Ikorodu Lighter Terminal while also addressing congestion at the Lagos ports.

Koko assured Adeniyi that the decongestion of Lagos ports would result in increased utilisation of the facilities. Additionally, he stressed the need for synergy among the various Customs units to facilitate the speedy clearance of consignments at the terminal.

“We sincerely appreciate your support for the committee that was established. The members of this committee have conducted an extensive tour of the country,” remarked Koko.

Speaking more about the congestion at the port, Koko emphasised that it hinders the Ports Authority from operating efficiently.
