FG declares Wednesday public holiday to celebrate Eid-ul-Maulud
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, declared Wednesday, September 27, 2023 as a public holiday to commemorate the Eil-ul-Maulid celebration.
This significant event marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Hon. Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims on witnessing this year’s occasion and encouraged them to embody the values of love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance, which were exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The Minister also urged the younger generation to embrace hard work and maintain peaceful relationships with fellow citizens, regardless of their faith, ideology, social class, or ethnicity.
