Gov. Buni’s second term in full gear as Yobe new commissioners assume offices
Governor Mai Mala Buni’s second term is now in full swing as newly appointed commissioners assume their roles, promising a fresh phase of efficient public service in Yobe state.
In a well-attended ceremony at the Government House in Damaturu, Governor Buni swore in 20 new commissioners and urged them to exhibit diligence, loyalty, and sacrifice in promoting good governance and service delivery in the state.
“I am sure you are conscious of the task that awaits you, as we shall be taking critical decisions for and on behalf of our people, with a sense of commitment to implement our people oriented policies and programmes to accelerate the development of our dear state, upon which we secured the people’s mandate for a second term of office, at the 2023 governorship election”, Buni said.

Among the first commissioners to take office were the Commissioner for Energy and Transport, Hon. Musa Mustapha, and the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa. Other commissioners in key ministries also assumed their roles, including Works, Water Resources, Youths and Sports, Humanitarian Affairs, Religious Affairs, and Higher Education.
Expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to serve, the commissioners praised Governor Buni and pledged their commitment to deliver on their mandates. Hon. Musa Mustapha highlighted the importance of collaboration to boost the state’s energy and transport sectors. He promised to provide improved street lighting and viable transportation services aligned with the governor’s welfare-focused policies and programs.
Similarly, the Works commissioner, Engr. Duddaye, expressed his determination to propel Yobe State’s infrastructure development, ensuring the timely completion of ongoing projects and initiating new ones to drive progress.
In a bid to hit the ground running, the Works commissioner inaugurated a committee led by the Director of Planning Research and Statistics, Engr. Hassan Geidam, to expedite the completion of the 25km Damaturu-Kalallawa dual carriage way road project.
The Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa, vowed to make Yobe the cleanest and most environmentally appealing state in the country.
The newly appointed commissioners wasted no time and immediately got to work, emphasizing the need for collective effort in order to achieve significant successes in their ministries.
