Kano Commissioner launches free medical outreach for 3,000 citizens

In a compassionate move, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, the Commissioner for Higher Education, initiated a Free Medical Outreach for the citizens of Kano State, irrespective of their local government of origin.
The event was organised to mark the first 100 days of Governor Abba Kabir’s administration. Speaking during the event, Dr. Kofarmata explained, “Initially, I had planned a dinner party to celebrate our 100 days in office.
However, upon observing the dire conditions that many people in our state are facing, struggling to access medical services and basic necessities, I realised a celebration was not appropriate. Instead, i decided to allocate the funds earmarked for the dinner party towards a medical outreach.”

The outreach aimed to provide medical care to over 3,000 citizens, regardless of their local government areas. Dr. Kofarmata ensured all necessary resources for the treatments were provided, including a dedicated and skilled team of medical professionals, canopies, chairs, desks, and drinking water.
Additionally, the organising committee prioritised assisting the needy and maintained security for the event.
Dr. Babangida Kibiya, one of the attending medical doctors, expressed his motivation and belief that the outreach would greatly benefit individuals who cannot afford medical care for their conditions.
Dr. Aisha Adam Abdullahi, representing the Female Medical Team (FMT), commended Dr. Kofarmata for introducing such a valuable initiative.
Many women revealed that the outreach had provided much-needed assistance, especially given the present economic situation.
The occasion was graced by the presence of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), politicians from various areas of the state, a representative of the Emir, stakeholders, vigilant groups, journalists, and other concerned individuals. Their support and participation further amplified the impact of the outreach.
