Man in Bauchi kills, buries 2 casual workers for money ritual

A man identified as Ibrahim Umar has been nabbed for allegedly killing two casual workers and burying them in a shallow grave in Taranka village of Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The victims were identified as Kabiru Idi, 36 years, and Bato Ali, 18 according to the spokesman of the Command, SP Ahmed Wakil.
He said that the matter was reported to the police on 10 August by one Adamu Mohammed, 57, of Taranka village.
According to Wakil, the complainant “reported at the Gamawa Divisional Police Headquarters, about one month ago, one Kabiru Idi, 36 years, and Bato Ali, 18 years, both of the same address were missing.

“One Ibrahim Umar, 40 years, of Dankunkuru village Ungogo LGA, Kano State, who came to the said Taranka village for charcoal business was suspected to have perfected the abduction and disappearance of the aforementioned persons.
“On receiving the report, a team of detectives were quickly sent to the locale and eventually arrested the suspect,” he said.
He also added that during interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to have killed and buried the two casual workers in a shallow grave on the outskirts of the town.
“The requisite coroner’s form was filled and the bodies were exhumed from the said grave for discreet investigation.
“The bodies were established to be those of the missing persons and were certified dead by a medical practitioner,” Wakil said.
He then said that the corpses were later handed over to relatives of the deceased for burial, while he added that further investigations revealed that the suspect killed the two men for ritual to make money.
“Exhibits recovered in the suspect’s residence included one rubber gallon containing liquid substance suspected to be human blood.
“Investigation is still in progress to uncover the mystery behind the cruel act,” Wakil said.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Auwal Muhammad, has condemned the ruthless and gruesome killing of the two innocent and very hardworking citizens.
He assured that justice will certainly be delivered in the matter.
