The Kano State Government has revealed that preparations for the planned mass wedding have been concluded, scheduled to take place on Friday, October 13, 2023.
The wedding ceremony will feature 1,800 couples from all the 44 local government areas of the state.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf made this announcement after verifying all the arrangements put in place at the premises of the state’s Hisbah Board to ascertain the progress achieved for the upcoming mass marriage scheme.
During the inspection, Governor Kabir expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation taken by the Hisbah board and the Ministry of Health.
He commended them for successfully executing the responsibilities given to them, particularly their effort to include the less privileged and people with disabilities.

He, however, expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of the office building of the Hisbah board, which has remained under construction for eight years.
Governor Kabir condemned the lack of proper attention given by the previous administration to the Hisbah Board despite its significant role in ensuring peace and security and mitigating marriage conflicts and societal vices.
He pledged to give the board the required attention and support it deserves.
The Commander General of Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, lauded the government’s effort on the planned sponsored wedding of 1,800 couples, describing it as timely.
He added that the scheme would assist people during the current hardship and curb the menace of sexual abuse.
