Kidnappers kill aid worker while delivering ransom for abducted neighbour

Residents of Kidandan village in the Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State are in shock after a villager was killed by bandits while delivering a ransom. The victim, Abdullahi Haruna, was a member of the First Aid of Fitiyanul Islam and had selflessly volunteered to deliver the ransom to secure the release of his neighbor who was held captive by the bandits.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at around 2:00 pm in Sabo Layi Kidandan. A vigilante member, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed the tragic event to our news outlet. According to a youth leader in the community named Jamil, the bandits had demanded a ransom, which Abdullahi Haruna courageously offered to take to them.

Unfortunately, when the bandits received the ransom, they attempted to forcibly take the deceased off his motorcycle. Abdullahi, however, resisted and made it clear that he was only there to deliver the ransom. This act of bravery cost him his life, as the bandits shot him on the spot. Shockingly, this incident occurred during the daytime, with people watching in Sabon Layi.

It is also worth mentioning that Sabon Layi village has become a hub for ransom collection in many abductions in the area. Efforts to reach the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful as his phone line was unreachable at the time of reporting.
