Kano Police arrest trigger-happy Inspector over murder, injury of 3 citizens
Kano State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, has ordered the arrest of a Police Inspector over the tragic death of one person and the injury of two others in Kurna Quarters, Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State.
According to a statement issued by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Command is actively investigating the regrettable confrontation that took place on November 28, 2023, involving rival unrest amongst youths.
The statement highlighted that the Inspector in question fired a shot without following the chain of command, leading to the unfortunate casualties.
In response to the incident, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc, has instructed ACP Nuhu Mohammed Digi, the Area Commander of Dala, to immediately apprehend the erring Police Inspector.
The statement also revealed that a board of inquiry will be established to comprehensively investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

Expressing sincere regret over the occurrence, the statement emphasised the Kano State Police Command’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rights and freedom of all citizens.
Equally, the Police Commissioner extended condolences to the deceased’s family and reassured the public that justice will be served.
The statement urged the public to remain calm as the command diligently addresses the situation with the utmost gravity. It also cautioned against external influences attempting to politicise and exacerbate the incident, highlighting the importance of maintaining peace in the state.
