Osimhen makes final shortlist for 2023 CAF player of the year
Nigerian footballer Victor Osimhen has been included in the final list for the 2023 CAF Best Player award, as announced by the Confederation of African Football.
The Napoli forward, who recently secured the Italian Scudetto and the top scorer accolade in the league, stands as the sole Nigerian nominee and the likely frontrunner for the prestigious award.

In addition to Osimhen, the final 10 nominees for the CAF award feature renowned players such as Sadio Mane, the current titleholder and Senegalese forward, as well as Riyad Mahrez of Algeria and Achraf Hakimi of Morocco, among others.
The winning player in each category will be determined through a voting process involving the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, head coaches, and captains of member associations and clubs engaged in the group stages of the Interclub competitions.
The anticipated Awards Gala is scheduled to take place on Monday, December 11, 2023, in Marrakech, Morocco.
The event will showcase the culmination of the voting process and honor the outstanding talents in African football for the year.
