Police arrest 53-year-old IDP for s3xually assaulting minor with mental illness

A 53-year-old Internally Displaced Person (IDP), Usman Tela Ahmadu, a resident of Samunaka in Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State has been apprehended over alleged sexual assault of a mentally challenged minor.
Admitting to the crime, the suspect said he committed the heinous act on the mentally challenged girl on four different occasions since the commencement of the year 2021.
The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has confirmed the incident.
CP Babatola, in response, implores parents and guardians to ensure their wards have the necessary provisions to shield them from potential encounters with criminally-minded individuals.
Furthermore, CP Babatola asserts that there will be no refuge for criminals and other dubious minded persons in Adamawa State.
He emphasizes proactive strategies, particularly during the ember months, to curb gender-based violence and other criminal activities.
