Court remands 3 Kano girls for name-calling, threatening another woman

Three female residents of Nassarawa Local Government Area in Kano State have been remanded by a Shari’ah Court sitting in Gama PRP for defaming and threatening another woman.

The accused, Amina Dahiru, Sadiya Abdullahi, and Fiddausi Yahaya, face charges under sections 120, 227, and 198 of the Kano State Penal Code Law.

The charges stem from a complaint filed by Fiddausi Salisu, who alleged that the trio threatened and accused her of stealing a phone belonging to one of them.

According to Salisu, they forcibly brought her to their residence and conducted a search, despite not finding any evidence. Subsequently, they reportedly resorted to name-calling and spreading false accusations about her.

When the charges were read to the accused by the prosecutor, Aliyu Abidin Murtala, they denied the allegations. As a result, the judge, Malam Nura Yusuf Ahmed, ordered their remand in a correctional facility.

The case has been adjourned to January 4 for the hearing of witnesses.
