The 10kg bags of maize, intended for distribution to impoverished individuals, had been emptied and the contents re-bagged into larger, unmarked bags, indicating potential plans for sale in open markets.
Governor Yusuf has previously overseen the distribution of over 200,000 bags of food items to vulnerable residents as a mitigation measure following the federal government’s fuel subsidy removal.
The governor has vowed to identify and hold accountable those responsible for diverting and hoarding the relief materials, demonstrating his commitment to upholding accountability within the distribution of essential aid.
