How suspected cultists in Rivers buried ex-community chairman alive – Police

Police unveiled the horrifying details of how two suspected cultists kidnapped and buried a former Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman, Praise Daakian, alive in the Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Rivers State Police Commissioner, Olatunji Disu, disclosed that the suspects confessed to being leaders of notorious cult groups and shared chilling accounts of their criminal activities.

The individuals, Baridapdo Igia and Elvis Gordon, admitted to terrorising the Khana Local Government Area for three years, including the killing of nine victims between 2021 and 2023.

Additionally, the suspects recounted the kidnapping and tragic murder of the former CDC Chairman after receiving a ransom of ₦200,000 from his wife.

The police commissioner emphasized that investigations are ongoing to expose the full extent of the suspects’ activities.

In a separate revelation, Emmanuel Essien and Marshal Ime confessed to being members of a four-man armed robbery syndicate that had been causing havoc in parts of Port Harcourt.

The police’s account of these harrowing crimes underscores the ongoing challenges with criminal activities in the area and the efforts required to address them.
