We know the influential Nigerians sponsoring banditry, terrorism – Minister
The Minister of Solid Minerals, Mr Dele Alake, has disclosed that influential Nigerians are actively involved in illegal mining and funding banditry and terrorism in the country.
The Minister brought this matter up before the House of Representatives Committee on Solid Minerals during the ministry’s 2024 budget defense in Abuja.
Alake also highlighted the involvement of foreign nationals in illegal mining activities within the country.

He emphasised the need for the Federal Government to prioritise the mining sector, underscoring its potential to generate trillions for the country annually.
The growing presence of militants in the North-West and central regions of Nigeria, beyond their traditional base in the North-East, has been a cause for alarm.
These militias have been terrorising local communities through raids, killings, kidnappings for ransom, and the destruction of homes and other valuable property.
