Bandits kidnap 2 female students of Al-Qalam Varsity

In a distressing turn of events, bandits have reportedly kidnapped two female students from Al-Qalam University in Katsina State.

The victims, identified as Habiba Ango Shantali and Maryam Abubakar Musa, were seized on their journey back to the university on Monday.

Both students hail from Borgu Local Government in Niger State.

The president of the National Association of Niger State Students, Comrade Gambo Idris Shehu, confirmed the incident in a statement co-signed by the Secretary-General, Comr. Mohammmed Ibrahim.

The association expressed deep concern and issued a plea for divine intervention, hoping for the swift and safe release of the abducted students.

This incident adds to the growing security challenges faced by educational institutions in Nigeria, particularly in the northern regions.

The safety and security of students and academic institutions remain a matter of grave concern, necessitating urgent and comprehensive measures to address the prevailing security issues.

There has been an unprecedented increase in the abduction of female students in the country, on October 3, 2023 five female students of Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, FUDMA, were abducted by suspected bandits their rented apartment located behind Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial School, Dutsin-ma was attacked.
