FG orders prosecution of appointees, others implicated in Humanitarian Ministry’s N585m fraud
The federal government has ordered an intense investigation into alleged N585.2 million fraud involving the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.
In a recent episode of TVC’s Politics on Sunday, Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Bola Tinubu, said that no one implicated in the investigation, including appointees, will be exempt from accountability.
The announcement comes in the wake of the suspension of Betta Edu, following allegations of authorising a payment of over N585.2 million to a private account.
A leaked memo brought to light that Edu had given approval for the transfer of N585 million into the private account of a civil servant.

Furthermore, Ngelale stressed the need for a thorough and impartial investigation, affirming that there will be no “sacred cows” as the inquiry progresses.
He said: “The President has given full instruction to the EFCC chairman, Ola Olukoyede, to not only conduct a thorough investigation.
“The way the President would direct such an investigation is to say that nobody, no name, should be left out if they are found wanting in the situation. No sacred cows at all.
“Anywhere this investigation takes the EFCC and other investigating authorities, that is where the investigation must go, and the President will take action accordingly,” he said.
