Former Governor Ambode’s chef remanded over alleged theft of valuables worth millions from his Ikoyi home

Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode’s chef, Victor Abayomi, was brought before a Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday on accusations of stealing valuable items worth millions from the governor’s Ikoyi residence.

Chief Magistrate Mr. Peter Nwaka ordered Abayomi to be remanded in Ikoyi Correctional Centre for 30 days pending further investigation and presentation of facts in court.

The case was adjourned until April 8.

The legal officer, Joshua Babalola, representing the State Security Service (SSS), stated that Abayomi, along with others, allegedly committed the theft at the former governor’s residence.

It was reported that the defendant absconded to Old Garage, Molorundo Local Government Area, Osun State after the offense and was subsequently arrested by Ambode’s SSS on March 7.

Abayomi is facing charges of conspiracy and theft which are in violation of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
