Governor Dauda seeks aid from Tinubu in battle against bandits

Story from Abubakar KADO

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has made a heartfelt plea to President Bola Tinubu for assistance in combatting the escalating banditry crisis plaguing the state.

After a meeting with President Tinubu, Governor Lawal spoke to the press, expressing deep concern over the devastating impact of the relentless bandit attacks that have left several local governments in turmoil.

Lawal described Zamfara as a hotspot for banditry that is spiraling out of control, emphasising the urgent need for increased military presence and resources to address the security challenges facing the state.

He warned that without intervention, the situation in Zamfara could have far-reaching consequences for the entire northern region of Nigeria.

Governor Lawal recounted the atrocities committed by the bandits, including the abduction of school children, highlighting the urgent need for swift action to protect the residents of Zamfara.

Despite the state government’s efforts, including the formation of the Community Protection Guard to collaborate with security forces, Lawal stressed the need for support from the federal government to effectively address the crisis.

As Zamfara grapples with the brutal reality of banditry, Governor Lawal’s plea to President Tinubu underscores the severity of the situation and the critical need for immediate intervention to restore peace and stability to the embattled region.
