Former U-17 World Cup winner, Ibrahim Babangida, laid to rest following fatal accident
Ibrahim Babangida, a retired footballer and member of the 1993 U-17 World Cup-winning Golden Eaglets squad, was tragically laid to rest following a fatal accident on the Kano-Zaria Road.
The incident claimed his life, but family members who survived the accident are currently receiving medical care at Shika Hospital in Zaria.
Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Ibrahim Babangida and ensured proper Islamic funeral rites were carried out in Kaduna.

PFAN officials, including General Secretary Emmanuel Babayaro, are closely monitoring the health status of the surviving family members.
Harrison Jalla, a chieftain of PFAN, conveyed gratitude to the sports minister, football stakeholders, and Nigerians for their support towards the Babangida family during this difficult time.
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, offered his heartfelt condolences to the Babangida family through a statement on social media. He prayed for the recovery of the surviving family members and asked for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased Ibrahim Babangida.
