Police in Katsina bust POS scam syndicate, recover stolen millions

The Katsina State Police Command has successfully busted a four-man syndicate of fraudsters who specialized in swapping Point of Sale (POS) machines to empty victims’ accounts.

The suspects, identified as Abdulhakeem Haruna, Habibu Kabir, Aminu Abubakar, and Abubakar Bishir, were arrested on May 12, 2024, following a tip-off.

According to the Police Spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the suspects confessed to committing the offense during the investigation.

They had swindled five victims, mostly business owners, of a total sum of ₦4,763,600. Four POS machines were recovered in their possession.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the operatives for a job well done and urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the command for swift action.
