Amusan Cleared for Olympics: Doping charges dismissed by CAS
100M hurdles world record holder Tobi Amusan has been cleared to compete in the Paris Olympics after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed appeals against her acquittal on doping charges.
Amusan, 27, was accused in July 2023 of missing three anti-doping tests within a year. However, the Disciplinary Tribunal of World Athletics cleared her of the charges. Despite this, World Athletics and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed the decision to CAS.
In a statement, CAS revealed that while Amusan committed two filing failures, there was no evidence of a third missed test, which would constitute a doping violation. Consequently, she is free to compete.

Amusan set the world record of 12.12 seconds at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, Oregon, where she won the title. She finished sixth in last year’s World Championships in Budapest.
World Athletics’ anti-doping rules stipulate that any athlete who fails to declare their whereabouts for doping tests three times within a 12-month period faces a two-year ban. With the CAS ruling, Amusan’s Olympic aspirations remain intact.
