EFCC busts fake Aso rock officials for N22.3 million job scam

In a crackdown on employment fraud, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a syndicate of fake State House officials in Abuja for allegedly duping job seekers of N22.3 million. The suspects, posing as staff of the Presidency and various ministries, promised victims non-existent jobs as “Directors General” in exchange for hefty sums.
Following petitions from victims, EFCC operatives launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of Augustine Enamegbai Umogboi, Eleojo Josephine Idakwo, Kingsley Onuh, Omata Sunday, and Eljayon Nigeria Limited. The suspects used various bank accounts to receive payments from victims, totaling N22,350,000.
Victims narrated their experiences in petitions to the EFCC, detailing how they were promised jobs in exchange for fees.

One victim was told to pay N5 million for a “Director General” position in the Ministry of Communication, while another was promised a job at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) or Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in exchange for a fee.
The suspects have provided useful information to the EFCC and will be charged to court soon. This bust serves as a warning to fraudsters preying on job seekers and a promise to victims that justice will be served.
