Enugu Rangers have secured their victory as champions of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after defeating Bendel Insurance 2-0 in a thrilling match held in Enugu on Sunday, with one game still remaining.

The win propelled Rangers to an impressive total of 67 points, securing their spot at the top of the league standings as their close competitors, Remo Stars and Enyimba, faced defeats against Sunshine Stars and Sporting Lagos respectively.

This historic win marks the 8th Nigerian league title for the Flying Antelopes, placing them as the second most successful club in the league, right behind Enyimba who boasts 9 league titles.

The atmosphere at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium (Cathedral) was filled with jubilation as Kenechukwu Agu scored the opening goal for Rangers in the 32nd minute, followed by Chidiebere Nwobodo securing the second goal in the 65th minute, leading the team to a well-deserved 2-0 victory. Fans chanted in joy as the Flying Antelopes secured their championship win.

With 67 points, Rangers’ final league game against Gombe United is a celebration of their well-deserved victory, with no other team capable of overtaking them in the standings.

In addition to clinching the title, Rangers have earned their spot to represent Nigeria in the 2024/2025 CAF Champions League. The fight for the Nigerian second Champions League slot is now left for Remo Stars, Enyimba, and Shooting Stars to battle it out on the last game day.
