WOFAN-ICON2 distributes contemporary farming inputs to communities in Kano, Jigawa (Pictures)

The Women Farmers Advancement Network (WOFAN) ICON2 Project in partnership with the MasterCard Foundation (MCF) distributed agricultural production and processing equipment to communities in Kano and Jigawa States to enhance productivity and boost food security in Nigeria.

 

 

Some of the farm inputs distributed are; Power Tillers, seed planters, fertilizer broadcasters, Personal Protective Equipments, Water Pump Engines,
Rice Polish Machines, Multi Crops Shelling Machines, and many others.

 

 

The foundation earlier distributed similar agricultural materials to other states, which include Nasarawa, Benue, Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, and Adamawa.

Speaking during the event, WOFAN-ICON2 Country Director, Hajia Salamatu Garba, said the machines will improve food productivity, thereby ensuring food security in the country. She urged the beneficiaries to put the equipment into good use.

 

 

Professor Sani Mikko, WOFAN Board Chairman, hailed the initiative and said agricultural transformation is guaranteed if extended to other parts of the country.

The labour-saving technologies will motivate young female farmers and youths to achieve set goals in food productivity.

The contemporary machines provided by the WOFAN-ICON2 Project will help reduce post-harvest losses and add significant value to local agriculture produce.

 

 

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke during the distribution event thanked the WOFAN stakeholders for the gesture, saying the farm inputs will positively impact their farming activities and help increase their production level.
