Former Liverpool star becomes pastor in Brazil

Former Liverpool and Brazil football star, Roberto Firmino, has embraced a new calling as a pastor of an evangelical church in Brazil.

The 32-year-old was officially ordained at a church he established in his hometown of Maceio on Sunday, June 30.

Firmino and his wife, Larissa, joyfully shared the news on Instagram, calling the event “memorable and unforgettable.”

Expressing their strong spiritual commitment, the couple shared, “From our encounter with Christ, a longing burns in our hearts that people may know this love that has reached us.

“Now we have another yearning and responsibility to be pastors after God’s own heart and who cooperate with the Kingdom.”

Following his baptism in 2020, which took place at the swimming pool of his former teammate Alisson’s house, Firmino’s journey towards faith has been evident in his social media posts and public actions, including preaching messages of faith.

Internationally, Firmino proudly earned 55 caps for Brazil and holds the record as the top-scoring Brazilian player in Premier League history with an impressive record of 82 goals.
