Madueke scores hat-trick in Chelsea’s 6-2 victory over Wolves

Noni Madueke scored a hat-trick as Chelsea overwhelmed Wolverhampton Wanderers 6-2 at Molineux, marking Enzo Maresca’s first Premier League win as Chelsea manager.

Chelsea, who suffered a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in Maresca’s debut, started strongly with Nicolas Jackson heading in a corner within the first two minutes. Despite Wolves’ Matheus Cunha equalising in the 27th minute with a powerful strike, Chelsea regained the lead through Cole Palmer just before half-time.

The second half saw Chelsea take full control. Madueke’s deflected shot in the 49th minute was followed by two more goals from him, each assisted by Palmer. Joao Felix added a final flourish with a stunning strike in the 80th minute to complete the rout.

In other Premier League action, Newcastle secured a controversial 1-1 draw at Bournemouth. Marcus Tavernier’s goal was cancelled out by Anthony Gordon’s equaliser. Bournemouth’s late attempt to win the game was ruled out by VAR for a handball.

Arne Slot is set to lead Liverpool in his first home game against Brentford later, following his appointment from Feyenoord.
