Police apprehends three for drug offenses and $71,500 online fraud

The Zone 16 Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to illicit drug operations and an elaborate online fraud scheme.

The victims were deceived through impersonation, which allegedly emptied their pockets by $71,500 on just two individuals. The suspects have been identified as Billion Ndubuisi, Charles Amachree, and Martins Chinemike.
In a statement released on Saturday, SP Gunn Emonena, spokesperson for Zone 16 Police Command, explained how the arrests were carried out.

Officers of Zonal Financial and Cybercrime Unit executed a swift operation in Rumukparali community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State, Act based on credible intelligence.

The three suspects were arrested during the raid and interrogated. SP Emonena said the suspects admitted to impersonating a U.S.-based legal luminary known as Ryam Bill to defraud their victims, St. Andrea, and Charlen Zielinsky of $71,500.

SP Emonena pointed out that the operation signifies the Zone 16 Police Command’s effort to curb cybercrime and illegal drug trafficking. He also called on people to be vigilant and inform the police about any suspicious activities.

The case has been handed over for further investigation, and the suspects are likely to be booked next week under the law. Meanwhile, police continue to step up efforts aimed at fighting cybercrime and protecting innocent victims from online scams.
