Bayero University Kano (BUK) has commenced an investigation into allegations of online impersonation and financial misconduct involving one of its students, Ismail Sani, after several individuals claimed they were defrauded.
In a statement on Wednesday, the university’s Director of Public Affairs, Lamara Garba, confirmed that the institution was aware of reports circulating on social media linking the student to acts of fraud.
Garba stressed that the alleged actions were personal and did not reflect the values of the university, adding that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken if the allegations are proven.
“Any conduct capable of bringing the name and reputation of the university into disrepute is treated seriously,” he said.
