2027: Labour party rules out automatic presidential ticket for Peter Obi

The Labour Party (LP) has stated that former presidential candidate Peter Obi will not receive an automatic ticket for the 2027 general election, affirming that the party will conduct a transparent and competitive primary.
LP leadership explained that while Obi remains a prominent figure in the party, internal democracy must be upheld, and all interested aspirants will be given equal opportunity to contest.

The party noted that its constitution does not provide for automatic tickets and emphasised that the 2027 flagbearer will emerge through due process.
