5 women arraigned for alleged involvement in prostitution

Five individuals have been arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ado Ekiti, for their alleged involvement in prostitution.

The defendants, Oluwatosin Ogundahunsi (30), Achu Jenifer (40), Joy Emmanuel (45), Hellen John (42), and Aminat Abiola (34), were arrested on March 6 at approximately 10pm while engaging in the act of prostitution.

The prosecuting counsel Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi highlighted that the charges against the accused fall under sections 156(1) and 181(1)(d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.

In response, the defense counsel, Barrister Adunni Olanipekun and A. Opaleke requested the court to consider granting their clients bail, emphasising the need for compassion in this matter.

After reviewing the situation, the presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun, agreed to grant bail to the defendants, setting the amount at N10,000 with one surety in the same sum and adjourned the case until January 28, 2025, for further hearings.
