54-year-old man gruesomely murders wife with iron rod
The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested and arraigned a 54-year-old man, Eseni Chima, for allegedly killing his wife, Ugochukwu, on Tuesday, December 17.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred at 60 Ogbaga Road, Kpirikpiri, in Abakaliki Local Government Area. While the motive behind the crime remains unknown, Chima is accused of repeatedly beating his wife with an iron rod until she died.
During the court hearing, prosecuting counsel Emmanuel Monday detailed the gruesome nature of the crime, which led to the charge of murder against Chima at a Magistrate Court in Abakaliki.

Presiding Judge Chinedu Agama directed the police to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice. The judge also adjourned the case until December 31 for further proceedings.
The tragic incident has shocked the community, raising concerns about domestic violence and the need for justice to be served.
