660 Hayin Danmani residents of Kaduna escape demolition

Story from Saleh INUWA

Residents occupying 660 flats in Hayin Danmani Area, off Kaduna Bye-Pass marked for demolition by the state government, can now heave a sigh of relief and sleep comfortably as the government has cancelled plans to demolish their houses.

Reports reaching Neptune Prime revealed that elders in the state have successfully convinced the Governor to mark out the area from the demolition list.

The 660 flats which were carved out, were sold out to individuals by the Makarfi Government, and set to be demolished since last week, but the state government decided to finish that of Graceland Zaria.

The Zaria Graceland belongs to the College of Aviation Technology, Zaria and was sold to individuals by the Late Yakowa Administration.

When our correspondent spoke to some of those staying in the 660 Hayin Danmani Flats, they revealed that they are not yet certain why the State Government halt the demolition plans, which they claim is a strange occurrence in the El-Rufai demolition agenda, to issue demolition notice and postponed.

They claim that Former Kaduna State Governor Makarfi was said to have pleaded with El-Rufai to instead of demolishing the houses, ask those affected to pay an amount that may be decided by the state government.

However, most of the residents have vacated the houses and removed their properties. Gbagi Villa, an area belonging to Kaduna Polytechnic which was allocated out by late Yakowa’s government has not been demolished, despite receiving several demolition notices from the government
