Police arrest 18-year-old girl for kidnapping little boy in Adamawa (Video)

Police in Adamawa State have arrested an 18-year-old girl, Blessing John, for abducting a boy, Elkanah, 9, to sell off to ritualists in order to buy a house and car.

According to reports, the 18-year-old is a university applicant who resides at Unguwan Cashew, along General Hospital road, in Michika Local Government of Adamawa State, just like her abductee, Elkanah.

Elkanah was declared missing on 19th February, 2022 and all efforts to find his whereabouts were futile, until the suspect was arrested on 21st February, 2022.

9-year-old Elkanah

Blessing confessed to abducting her victim, Elkanah, from Michika to sell him off in Mubi in order to buy herself a house and car.

The suspect also confessed to have concluded arrangements with an unnamed buyer in Mubi, before abducting little Elkanah.

However, on reaching Mubi, the buyer’s phone number wasn’t reachable, Blessing boarded a tricycle to Unguwar Kara, as described to her by a person she asked.

Blessing met her waterloo when she helplessly scouted round parts of Mubi town with the little boy, asking questions from point to point. Some people having understood the fishy nature of her inquiry, reported her at the Police Station.

The Police in Mubi, after asking relevant questions, immediately sent a signal to Michika Divisional Police Officer, who later confirmed the report of one missing kid.

When commenting on the issue, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adamawa State command, DSP Suleiman Yahya Nguroje confirmed the incident, adding that the case is already transferred to Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

He said the suspect has confessed to the crimes and pleaded for forgiveness and is being further probed prior to being charged to court. While young Elkanah was taken to the hospital for a medical check up, and has already been reunited with his parents.

DSP Nguroje revealed the commendations of the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State, CP Barde to the people of Mubi for reporting the case, the DPOs of Mubi and Michika Divisions and their men, while calling on the general public to always report such cases to the Police.
