Police overpower bandits, rescue abducted varsity students
The Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued two students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) who were kidnapped from their lodge on Sunday, March 30.
SP Ramhan Nansel, the command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the rescue in a statement on Tuesday, explaining that the students — Sadiq Adinoyi and Sakina Adinoyi—were abducted during an attack on a student residence behind Nasara Estate, Tudun Kauri, Lafia, around 9:20pm.
“Following a distress call, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, ordered operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and ‘A’ Division, Lafia, to track the abductors.
“Using technical intelligence, the team located the kidnappers in a forest near the 500 housing unit along Doma road.

“The rescue team engaged the criminals in a gun battle. Overpowered by police firepower, they fled in different directions, abandoning the victims, who were safely rescued,” Nansel said.
He stated that one suspect, Ibrahim Musa from Abuni village in Awe Local Government Area, was apprehended at the scene.
According to him, the suspect has made a valuable confession and is assisting with ongoing investigations.
Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Nansel commended the anti-kidnapping unit for their unwavering efforts in the rescue operation.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating crime and urged officers to stay resolute in their mission to rid the state of criminal activities.
